Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm (GMT+8, HK Time)

Venue: Lecture Theatre A, Ground Floor, Chow Yei Ching Building, HKU

Format: face-to-face only

Talk Summary:

The accelerated tizzy over Artificial Intelligence and its fellow travelers – machine learning, deep learning, neural networks – has the world ablaze in controversy and argument. The focus of argument includes:

– Will the good of these systems outweigh the bad?

– Will there be a balanced, reasoned response by society as measured in social practices, education and law?

– And who will lead that discussion, and how?

We discuss these issues of science and society as transdisciplinary engagement by all of us. Without our participation, the error rate for governance of AI and injuries from it will soar…
