Biography :
John Finch is Professor of Marketing at the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School, and Associate Dean for East Asia in the University of Glasgow’s College of Social Sciences. He specialises in business-to-business marketing, researchers the evolution and economic sociology of business markets. John was from 2016 to 2023 Dean of the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School, leading the school through a period of significant growth, rankings and reputational improvement, including a significant improvement in the School’s UK REF2021 outcome, being 14th in the UK. His PhD is in industrial economics from the University of Lancaster, and he has worked at the University of Aberdeen and University of Strathclyde (where he was vice dean at Strathclyde Business School).
John is now lead investigator at the University of Glasgow for a significant project funded by Innovate UK, and in collaboration with FinTech Scotland and the University of Strathclyde: Financial Regulation Innovation Lab. This multi-disciplinary project spans Finance and AI, Law, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Economics and Marketing. John has led funded research projects in the marketing of green chemistry, and productization in the water industry. His publications include Research Policy, Marketing Theory, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, Cambridge Journal of Economics and Consumption, Markets, and Culture.
John is a Certified Member of the Market Research Society, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management.
